Take stock of what makes you unique
Wednesday, May 25th, 2011Peer pressure affects even the older generation, otherwise there would be nothing like copying the joneses. While women are the culprits most of the time, men too suffer especially when it comes to acquiring electronics like phones and audio systems. Dylan had such self confidence that everyone was convinced that nothing would throw him. He was his own man until he met and befriended a colleague who was all flashy and accommodating. Though they earned money on the same range, he spent his like there was not tomorrow. He had to have the latest Nokia N82 software in the market because that was what had taken his fancy. Through their constant interactions, he sold the idea to Dylan and together they started running after the same things. Dylan changed his car for a newer model. He had his home remodeled the same way his new friend had done his. Soon he started hanging out in the same joint as his friend, becoming a totally new man. His other colleagues were appalled at his behavior because they thought of him as a pillar in the company. Some even suggested that the two of them had a relationship beyond the business front. Yet no one dared confront him. When at last his friend decided to move on to another company, Dylan was forced to take a rain check on his life. The Nokia N85 software he had borrowed money to buy also remained unused in his house because it had never been of interest to him. His new car was exciting, but he felt like he would have used the money on bonds or shares in the stock market. He had to make up his mind about his future.
